A number of studies from The Journey gallery installation,  were produced to explore the narrative structures and symbolic elements used in the Peterloo project. A more three dimensional – constructed approach to drawing was introduced providing a more sculptural response to the development of narrative forms.

These structures were then used as references for a number of gestural drawings that evoked a metaphorical depiction of the dynamics associated with “a journey/voyage that had transformed into a quest”. These three dimensional constructions began to take on the characteristics of a still life, or even a still life within an interior, which would develop into the ‘Genre Contrasts’ body of work.
