This section is made up of work made since 2015 divided into Recent, involving work that is considered to have achieved an appropriate level of resolution or completion, and Current, that includes work that reflects a condition of being ‘in progress’. The section also includes examples of what are referred to as ‘Preparatory Studies’ (PS) that are drawings/prints taken from sketchbooks that explore alternative, more speculative directions.

Since 2015 practice has been developed from earlier concerns, in particular an interest in the mythical legacy of Guernica and a critical engagement with the nature of abstraction. There is also an extension of interests in ‘strategies of representation’ that were introduced in the notion of ‘Re-Representation’ around 2010, and then in the exhibition project Representing Abstraction in 2014.

More recently, the conversational exchanges or interactive relationships between contrasting or oppositional positions has become increasingly important especially conflicting ‘modes of representation’ such as the formal-material exchanges between the photograph and the drawing, or representational images of Spanish Civil War fighters juxtaposed with minimalist abstract paintings.
